A $24 million renovation YWCA-Central Massachusetts in Worcester will be led by an all-female team from Consigli Construction under terms of the city’s first community benefits agreement.

The project which broke ground this morning will update infrastructure and building systems, consolidate space in the existing building for efficiency and upgrade security. The early education and care facility will be relocated and reorganized to make way for a new classroom and playground and STEM programming.

The Salem Square YWCA was identified as a key destination in Worcester’s downtown urban revitalization plan.

Completion is scheduled for winter 2020-2021.
