Amazon’s under-construction 17-story tower in Boston’s Seaport District won’t be the company’s only new expansion in Massachusetts. The company has reportedly inked a deal for space at a 2 million-square-foot commercial property north of the city.
State Comptroller Andrew Maylor, the recently departed North Andover town manager, tweeted on Tuesday: “Its official @amazon will locate a distribution facility in @north_andover at the 1600 Osgood site,” referring to the former Lucent Technologies facility at the town’s Osgood Landing complex at 1600 Osgood Road.
As of publication time, owner Ozzy Properties had not returned requests for comment. Amazon declined to comment. It’s not clear how much space Amazon will take in the Osgood Landing complex, one of the state’s largest high-tech manufacturing facilities.
A very large indoor marijuana farming facility had been proposed for the modernized 2 million-square-foot facility, but residents voted the idea down in 2017.
