Arabella Insurance GroupQuincy-based Arbella Insurance Group has been named presenting sponsor of the tote board – a progressive indicator of the hourly fundraising success – at the 10th annual WEEI/NESN Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon, a two-day telethon at Fenway Park.

Along with its tote board sponsorship, the Arbella Insurance Group Charitable Foundation donated $20,000 to the Jimmy Fund, according to a statement. To further add to its contribution, Arbella is offering an agent matching gift program in which the company will match donations to the Jimmy Fund from any of its nearly 500 independent agents on a two-to-one basis, up to $500 per agency.

"So many of us here at Arbella have been impacted by cancer in some way," said John Donohue, president, CEO and chairman of Arbella. "We have employees whose family members have benefited from the incredible services at Dana-Farber. Being involved with the radio-telethon is a great way for us to give back and support a cause we care so deeply about. We’re committed to helping the Jimmy Fund reach its goal this year."

The 36-hour broadcast begins on Tuesday, Aug. 30 and will feature compelling stories from Dana-Farber patients, doctors, researchers and nurses. The telethon also showcases fun and inspiring interviews and commentaries on WEEI Sports Radio Network and NESN by local sports heroes, Hollywood celebrities and cancer patients.

Since its founding in 1948, the Jimmy Fund has supported the fight against cancer in children and adults at Boston’s Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Last year’s telethon raised $3.8 million, and since 2002, the event has generated more than $25 million to help to raise the chances of survival for cancer patients around the world.
