Beacon Roofing Supply Inc. said its second quarter sales increased 33 percent to $395 million compared to $296 million in the same quarter a year ago as it swung to a $3.1 million profit.
In the second quarter of 2011, Beacon reported a $6.2 million loss.
The company said residential and nonresidential roofing product sales increased 46 percent and 17 percent, respectively.
"The much warmer winter conditions this year boosted roofing and exterior remodeling activities and seemed to accelerate the recent trend of increased residential re-roofing activities," the company said in a statement.
The company claimed total assets of $1.3 billion as of the quarter’s end compared to $1.1 billion a year prior. It reported cash and equivalents of $171 million compared to $178 million a year earlier.
