Bentley University’s Jennison Hall has reopened following a seven-month, $22.5 million lab and classroom renovation and expansion designed by Boston-based ARC/Architectural Resources Cambridge.

Originally built in 1966, the 33-classroom Jennison Hall is the largest academic building on the university’s Waltham campus.

Updated interiors were designed to maximize transparency and flexibility, with glass walls and daylit rooms. The renovated complex includes three multidisciplinary science labs, a dry lab, classrooms and quiet study areas, and the Office of Academic Services relocated to the building.

Sustainability features include an energy recovery system for lab exhaust, occupancy senors managing classroom heating and lighting and LED lighting.

The project team included Consigli Construction Co. and owner project manager CSL Consulting.

“The renovations create an ideal environment to support Bentley’s curricular fusion of the liberal arts and sciences with business,” said Rick Oches, chair of the school’s department of natural and applied sciences, in a statement.
