Amid regional banks’ race to capture business among Boston’s affluent, Berkshire Bank has hired a former Silicon Valley Bank executive to boost its private banking business in the region.

Heather Rielly was with SVB since 2020 as vice president and client development officer until March 2023 when she moved to Hingham Institution for Savings as a relationship manager.

Rielly was brought on by Berkshire Bank as senior vice president for private banking in December.

She has 20 years of experience in the Boston banking scene, working with professional service firms, privately held businesses and high-net-worth individuals as well as businesses and nonprofit organizations.

At Berkshire, Rielly will be responsible for new business development in the Boston market by helping private banking clients reach their individual financial goals, the bank said in its announcement of Rielly’s hiring.

Berkshire is still looking for more senior vice presidents for its private banking business, according to its job postings.

“We are very excited and pleased to welcome Heather to our growing Private Banking team,” Beth Mineo, Berkshire’s managing director of private banking, said in a statement. “The role supports our continued commitment to providing exceptional service, advice, customized lending, and liquidity management solutions delivered by experienced bankers connected within the communities we serve.”

Correction 9:41 a.m. Feb. 13, 2024: This story has been updated to correct Reilly’s employment history. She was a vice president at Silicon Valley Bank from 2020 to 2023 and a relationship manager at Hingham Institution for Savings during 2023 before moving to Berkshire Bank in December.
