The Big Y supermarket chain is planning a new store in Lee that could add up to 150 full- and part-time jobs to the region.
Big Y Foods Inc. has bought the former Diesel Dan’s truck stop near the Massachusetts Turnpike for $4.25 million and plans to start construction of a 48,000-square-foot supermarket on the eight-acre parcel by the end of the year. The site will also be home to an additional 5,000 square feet of retail space for one or two other stores.
Construction is expected to take a year.
