Four Blue Line stops in East Boston and Revere will go offline to riders for two and a half weeks in May, adding to a previously delayed 14-day shutdown on the line’s other end designed to accelerate repair work, officials announced Monday.

The MBTA will take the Suffolk Downs, Beachmont, Revere Beach and Wonderland stations offline between May 12 and May 29 and replace subway service with shuttle buses ending at Orient Heights.

Doing so will “accommodate critical repair work on the pedestrian bridge at Suffolk Downs Station,” T officials said Monday.

Another diversion will hit the other end of the Blue Line starting in late April. From April 25 to May 8, no Blue Line trains will run at Bowdoin, Government Center, State, Aquarium or Maverick stations. Shuttle buses will instead run in a “one-way inbound loop” from Maverick to Government Center, with riders who need to access Bowdoin station urged to use the Government Center stop.

During that 14-day suspension, MBTA workers plan to replace 1,800 feet of full-depth track, inspect tunnel and drainage systems, seal leaks, upgrade lighting and repair signals.

The MBTA on March 24 announced that the shutdown – which was set to impact more than 25,000 riders – would take place from April 2 to April 14, but later delayed the plans until late April. A spokesperson said Monday that the agency wanted to give riders more time to prepare.
