Boston architecture firm SGA is expanding its life science practice with the acquisition of a Portland, Maine-based consultancy focused on biopharma research and development facilities.

SGA announced its acquisition of J Talka Consulting Wednesday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Talka founder Jeff Talka, a practicing architect, will become the new director of SGA’s science and technology group.

“We’re excited to welcome J Talka Consulting and its founder Jeff on board at SGA,” SGA President and Founding Partner Al Spagnolo said in a statement. “We have a vibrant life sciences practice and Jeff’s expertise will further enhance our services to our growing list of clients nationally.”
