Artificial intelligence software firm Neurala has found its way from Boston University’s Photonics Center to its first corporate offices at 51 Sleeper St. in Boston’s Fort Point.

The firm recently signed a three-year lease for 8,487 square feet in the 150,363-square-foot brick-and-beam building, which was acquired by TIAA-CREF in 2013 for $60.2 million.

Neurala is the developer of “The Neurala Brain,” a software network that can be used for applications including autonomous vehicles and drones. Neurala announced $14 million in series A funding in January, led by Pelion Venture Partners.

Neurala looked at various locations from Back Bay to the Seaport before settling on the property, CEO Massimiliano Max Versace said in a statement.

NAI Hunneman’s Peter Evans and Matthew Davis represented Neurala and Newmark Knight Frank’s Ben Sutton represented the sublandlord.

Newton-based Hopsters, a crowd-funded craft brewery and brew-your-own-beer outlet, also has announced plans to open a second location at 51 Sleeper St. this fall with a 6,000-square-foot lease at the former Sleeper Street Cafe.
