The Skating Club of Boston’s long search for a new home is nearing an end, and it’s setting up a 2-acre Brighton property as a potential redevelopment site.

The club has put its 32,635-square-foot skating rink and land at 1240 Soldiers Field Road on the market, and brokers expect that it will attract plenty of interest from developers. Zoning allows such uses as offices, retail, medical, multifamily residential and hotels.

The club had tentatively agreed to sell the property to Harvard University in 2011 and move to a new facility at 176 Lincoln St. as part of a land swap, but rising construction costs ruled out that site, Club Executive Director Doug Zeghibe said in an email. It’s now exploring a potential location in Norwood, according to Zeghibe.

CBRE/New England is representing the skating club in the disposition. The 81-year-old rink is located in a fast-changing section of Brighton absorbing a wide variety of new multifamily and commercial development.

“The values of land in Cambridge have made this a desirable next stop location,” said Mark Reardon, an executive vice president and partner at CBRE.

Boston-based Dinosaur Capital Partners received approval in May to redevelop a vacant office building and parking lot at 1550 Soldiers Field Road and 21 Soldiers Field Place into a 211-unit apartment complex and 38-unit condominium building.

The 1.8-acre former Martignetti liquor outlet property at 1650 Soldiers Field Road is being redeveloped as a 27,000-square-foot Maserati and Alfa Romeo dealership after its sale for $14 million to a real estate company affiliated with Fiat Chrysler.

And Boston-based Mugar Enterprises paid $13 million in 2016 to acquire nine parcels totaling 3.6 acres along Western Avenue in Allston for a potential redevelopment project.
