The charitable foundation of Taunton’s Bristol County Savings Bank has donated $6,000 to the Battleship Cove Community Boating Program (BCCB) in Fall River.
The grant will provide opportunities for underprivileged children to be taught sailing, according to a statement.
Since 2007, the Bristol County Savings Charitable Foundation has donated approximately $200,000 to 18 different organizations in the South Coast region of Massachusetts. The Foundation was established in 1996 as part of the Bank’s 150th Anniversary celebration. Its purpose is to fund needs that contribute to the economy and the social well-being of the people and institutions located in greater Attleboro/Taunton and greater Dartmouth, Mass., as well as the Pawtucket, R.I., area. Since the Foundation began, more than $5.75 million in grants to over 300 different nonprofit organizations have been awarded. In 2009, the foundation awarded a record $822,472 to 129 different organizations.
