Proposals to add housing and commercial space to Bunker Hill Community College’s Charlestown campus are due Dec. 10, state real estate officials announced.

The selected firm is asked to deliver a redevelopment plan “at little or no cost” to the state, the Division of Capital Asset Management and Management said.

A call for offers issued by brokerage Newmark this week said the selection process “is likely to require multiple rounds of submissions, interviews, and requests for additional information.”

In June, the Healey administration announced it would seek a private redevelopment of the 32-acre campus on Rutherford Avenue, potentially adding multifamily housing and life science buildings.

The existing campus includes seven buildings totaling 506,000 square feet. Developers are required to retain 360,000 square feet of academic space in the future project.

The bulk of the new buildings are expected to replace athletic fields on the north side of the property. Developers are encouraged to submit offers that describe their plans for connectivity, open space and new college facilities.

The developer will be responsible for obtaining permitting approvals. The Rutherford Avenue corridor was rezoned for building heights up to 28 stories in 2023.

DCAMM previously said it planned to select a developer by the end of the year.

The city of Boston and a Boston developer are already moving forward with a large-scale redevelopment of the college’s parking lots.

Trinity Financial is proposing nearly 700 apartments and condominiums after being designated as developer of the city-owned 5.1-acre property at 100-168 New Rutherford Ave.
