Cambridge Trust Co. has joined the ranks of local financial institutions recruiting Silicon Valley Bank and ex-First Republic Bank employees after picking up two business banking staffers.

It’s at least the third bank to lure away bankers from now-acquired SVB and First Republic – the last two being Berkshire Bank and Citizens Bank – in order to find new ways to growing deposits amid dwindling bank margins from the current high interest rate environment.

Cambridge Trust announced last week it had appointed Jason Rich as a vice president and senior relationship manager. Rich was SVB’s former director of specialty commercial lending. It brought on board Edson Bueno as an assistant vice president and relationship manager, a former managing director at First Republic.

Rich was responsible for generating new core deposits as well as building and maintaining strategic relationships for SVB. For Cambridge Trust, he is now handling the development of new client relationships of within bank’s Massachusetts market.

Bueno is helping business owners in the bank’s Massachusetts market to identify and implement the optimum deposit and treasury management solutions for their short- and long-term growth strategy.

Buneo’s and Rich’s hirings were announced along with two other personnel moves. Ellen Soucy from Bangor Savings Bank joined Cambridge Trust as a vice president and relationship manager covering the New Hampshire while Jerod Colley, formerly of Santander Bank, is now one of Cambridge Trust’s vice presidents and a relationship manager for Massachusetts markets.

“Cambridge Trust continues to not only welcome top talent but also make commercial and nonprofit client relationships a top priority,” Kerri Mooney, senior vice president and chief deposit officer of Cambridge Trust, said in a statement. “We’re excited to welcome Jason, Ellen, Jerod and Edson to our team of experienced bankers and relationship managers, ensuring that our clients can continue to rely on our expertise and support to help their businesses succeed.”
