About a year out from opening its doors, MGM Springfield this week launched an advertising blitz to attract workers as it seeks to fill about 3,000 positions, from accounting to food and beverage service. The gambling company posted more than 250 job descriptions for 3,000 positions on Monday, including jobs typically associated with casinos – dealers, bartenders, customer service personnel – and jobs that aren’t often linked to a casino – a butcher, a master tailor/seamstress, florists and locksmiths.

To attract potential applicants, MGM Springfield on Monday launched a campaign featuring billboards, digital, social media, television and radio ads and slogans like “Stomach Meet Butterflies” and “Roar With Us, New England.”

MGM Springfield said it expects to receive about 40 applications per position.

MGM, which recently announced plans to pursue another resort casino nearby in Bridgeport, Connecticut, said it will invest $90 million in annual payroll at MGM Springfield and offer “a comprehensive package of pay and benefits, with average salaries above $40,000.” A majority of the positions will be full-time jobs, MGM said.

MGM Springfield said it has established a goal of hiring 35 percent of its workforce from the city of Springfield and 90 percent from a combination of Springfield and the immediate region.
