A North Shore charter school acquired a 3.7-acre site in Peabody and Danvers where it recently gained approval for a new 66,000-square-foot campus.
The sites include the Onion Town Grill & Sports Bar, which will remain open pending groundbreaking of the new Pioneer Charter School of Science II.
The school acquired the 2-acre restaurant site at 175 Water St. and 67 Pulaski St. in Peabody for a combined $3.3 million, according to Stephen Nohrden, president of Burgess Properties of Malden, which brokered the transaction.
The Peabody Planning Board approved a site plan for the project last summer, in the final step of local permitting.
The project will create a new campus with potential capacity for up to 594 students, the Salem News reported.
