Redevelopment of the former French Naturalization Club property in Chelsea is generating 34 units of affordable housing, including eight units of supportive housing for formerly homeless families.

The Neighborhood Developers and NEI General Contracting this month completed Acadia, a 42,000-square-foot project on Spencer Avenue. Housing Families Inc. will provide support services for the eight units set aside for households previously living in temporary housing or at risk of losing their homes.

Designed by Utile Inc., the project is the latest in more than a dozen completed by NEI General Contracting of Randolph in partnership with The Neighborhood Developers, a Chelsea-based community development corporation.

The project team also included RSE Assoc., BLW Engineering, Samiotes Consultants, G2 Collaborative, Irwin Engineers, Geotechnical Partnership and Munkenbeck Consulting. Winn Residential will manage the property.

With the completion of Acadia, The Neighborhood Developers now owns 429 apartments. The organization has developed 317 homes representing $104 million in investment in new and renovated properties since 2006.
