Fall River’s BankFive donated $10,000 to several soup kitchens and food pantries in the community this holiday season. In an effort to encourage community support to its customers and provide them an opportunity to give back, holiday money envelopes are also being offered at branches for a minimum donation of $1 and will be donated to food pantries and soup kitchens along with BankFive’s donations.

Oxford-based bankHometown kicked off its 16th annual pajama drive on Nov. 26 with a challenge to residents to help support local children in need of new pajamas or slippers. The pajamas and slippers are sent to local schools in Central Massachusetts and Northern Connecticut, as well as the Thompson Ecumenical Empowerment Group in Thompson, Connecticut.

Bay Coast Bank

In an effort to bring the sport of crew to inner-city youth and make the activity more accessible to all, BayCoast Bank earlier this year provided a grant of $25,000 for construction of a new rowing center on South Watuppa Pond in Fall River. The BayCoast Rowing Center Inc. enrolled 32 students in its inaugural “Learn to Row” program this fall and held a graduation ceremony on Nov. 3, a commemoration that included a race and cookout for all students, their families and supporters of the rowing center.

Cummings Properties

Cummings Properties, the Woburn-based commercial real estate company, recently donated $484,000 to hundreds of Middlesex, Essex and Suffolk county nonprofit organizations via its employee directed giving program. Through this annual initiative, employees are invited to select a local nonprofit to receive a $1,000 donation in their honor. Employee directed giving benefited 335 nonprofits in 99 local cities and towns in 2018.

Litchfield Bankcorp

Litchfield Bancorp donated $1,000 to the Friends of the Litchfield Community Greenway. The Litchfield Community Greenway was created in 2003 to propose a system of recreational trails linking various parts of the town of Litchfield, allowing people to explore scenic areas.

Newburyport Five Cents Savings Bank

Newburyport Five Cents Savings Bank recently made a $2,250 donation to the Newburyport Farmer’s Market, and $5,000 to the Goodwin Community Health & Families First 10thAnnual Father’s Day 5K Race, to be held on June 16, 2019.
