Avidia Bank

Hudson-based Avidia Bank partnered with New England Patriots’ cornerback Stephon Gilmore to raise funds for the Boys and Girls Clubs of MetroWest. For every home game during the regular season, Avidia Bank will partner a child and a mentor from the Boys and Girls Clubs of MetroWest and send them to see Stephon Gilmore play. In addition, Avidia Bank will donate $1,000 to the group for every defensive interception and defensive recovery all season long, up to $30,000.

The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod

The Hyannis-based Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod announced $25,000 in grants to local organizations across the Cape for their quarterly grant cycle.

  • Cape Abilities received a grant of $10,000 for its new Adopt-A-Home program. This program will allow The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod’s Coop Foundation to adopt one of the organization’s 15 residential homes, providing funding for repairs and improvements which will enable individuals with disabilities to live as independently as possible.
  • Cape Cod Challenger Green Project received $5,000 to purchase additional equipment to process food waste collected from a number of Cape businesses and turn it into a nutrient rich compost that is then sold to local farms and garden centers. The Green Project provides jobs for individuals with special needs and creates a healthier environment on the Cape.
  • Cape Symphony & Conservatory received $5,000 to support their educational outreach program, which provides arts curriculum to local schools facing budgetary limitations. The Conservatory offers their outreach programming for free or reduced cost to the participants.
  • Champ Homes received $2,500 to support the housing advocacy component of their program, allowing counselors to work with individuals utilizing Champ’s transitional housing to find permanent housing and work. Champ Homes offers a path to self-sufficiency for adults on Cape Cod who are homeless, or near homeless, in a safe, compassionate and respectful environment.
  • The Children’s Center, run by the Harwich Ecumenical Council for the Homeless, received a $2,500 grant to provide financial aid for low- and moderate-income families. The Children’s Center offers safe, affordable and reliable early education and childcare on the Lower Cape.

Dedham Savings Bank

Dedham Savings Bank donated $5,000 to the Martha Jones School PTO. These funds were used to purchase air-conditioners for the second floor of the School.  This investment will allow for more comfort and less distraction during the warmer months of the school year.

The bank also donated  $5,000 to the Dedham Youth Commission. The money received will be used to increase funding for their English Language Learners programs for the growing immigrant population.

Griffin Electric

Holliston-based Wayne J. Griffin Electric Inc. recently donated new school supplies to two local community non-profits to help students get a successful start to the new school year. Over 75 backpacks filled with supplies were distributed to kids ranging in ages from preschool to high school.

MutualOne Bank

Framingham-based MutualOne Bank awarded $5,000 to support the city’s third gun buyback program. The event, which will be held Sept.14, is a combined effort of the Framingham Police Department, the office of Framingham Mayor Yvonne Spicer, the Framingham City Council and the Middlesex Sheriff’s Department and is aimed at getting unwanted weapons out of homes to reduce the risk of weapons theft, suicide and gun violence. The two previous buyback events  resulted in the removal of approximately 306 unwanted firearms from the community, according to Framingham Chief of Police Steven D. Trask.
