BankGloucester

BankGloucester donated $21,000 to 19 community organizations as part of its 12th annual “Banking for the Community” program, where the public was invited to vote on which of 87 participating organizations would get donations from the bank. The organization receiving the most votes was Cape Ann Animal Aid which received a check for $5,000 and a bonus check for $1,000 based on special votes cast at the event. The Open Door and Back Yard Growers finished second and third respectively and received $3,000 each. Rose Baker Senior Center and Schooner Adventure each received a check for $1,000 for coming in fourth and fifth place.

Naveo Credit Union

Somerville-based Naveo Credit Union rasied $1,500 for Boston Children’s Hospital through a “Jeans Day” program. Naveo participated in the Miracle Jeans Day initiative on Wednesday, September 11 by trading in their business attire for jeans and their favorite New England sports team tee shirt in exchange for a donation to Boston Children’s Hospital. To raise additional funds, Naveo extended employee jeans day to all Fridays throughout the month of September.

Rockland Trust

Boston-based Rockland Trust recently established the Maurice H. Sullivan, Jr. ’63 Endowed Scholarship at BC High. Born and raised in Brighton, Sullivan is a well-recognized neighbor who has served Allston-Brighton in numerous capacities on the boards of organizations including the West End House/Allston-Brighton Boys and Girls Club and St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center. To honor Sullivan’s legacy, the scholarship recipient will be a student who demonstrates financial need, with preference for a student from Allston-Brighton and/or a student who participated in the West End House Boys & Girls Club in Allston.

Webster Five

Webster-based bank Webster Five announced it will donate $20,000 payable over three years to Creative Hub Worcester. The donation will help support Creative Hub Worcester in their mission to provide affordable and accessible opportunities in the arts for all Worcester area community members, with a focus on at-risk and underserved youth. The bank also announced donations of $25,000 payable over three years to YWCA Central Massachusetts to support planned renovations to the YWCA’s Salem Square facility in Worcester, and $2,200 to Thompson Ecumenical Empowerment Group. The donation will help support the group’s adolescent mentoring programs in 2019.
