Citizens Bank awarded $300,000 to the winners of its fourth annual Small Business Community Champion award, drawn from 4,000 nominations across the Northeast. Each received $10,000 in recognition of their efforts toward strengthening their communities. Local winners are:

City Realty Group
Boston-based multifamily developer City Realty Group gave $5,000 to help reopen the Brookline Teen Center, forced to shut down due to the pandemic.
Hanscom Federal Credit Union
Hanscom Federal Credit Union participated in and supported the Credit Unions Kids at Heart 2021 All-Ability Challenge with a donation of $5,350 to benefit Boston Children’s Hospital. Credit union employees and their families could chose to walk, run, roll, cycle or participate in an act of kindness, all as part of Team Hanscom.
People’s United Bank
Connecticut-based People’s United Bank gave $10,000 to The Initiative for a Competitive Inner City to fund tuition-free executive leadership training to small businesses in Boston.
Rollstone Bank & Trust
Leominster-based Rollstone Bank & Trust gave $5,000 to Ginny’s Helping Hand in Leominster, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of the less fortunate. Funds will be used for the purchase of a commercial refrigerator to support Ginny’s food bank and accommodate the increased food donation deliveries that help needy families throughout the region.
RTN Federal Credit Union
RTN Federal Credit Union and RTN GoodWorks Foundation co-sponsored a virtual “A Beginner’s Guide to Building Wealth” financial education seminar on April 29, presented by partner American Consumer Credit Counseling Inc.
