Chelsea-based design firm The Architectural Team has announced endowed scholarship at Boston’s Wentworth Institute of Technology. This need-based scholarship for students pursuing degrees in Wentworth’s School of Architecture & Design intends to build a pipeline into professional practice for underrepresented students. The design field has long struggled to diversify its ranks beyond white men.

Boston Firefighters Credit Union 

Boston Firefighters Credit Union gave $25,000 to the Boston Fire Department to support the early detection, treatment and prevention of occupational cancer among firefighters, and $25,000 to the Boston Police Department to support wellness programs that address job related stress and mental health.

Boston Properties

Owen Thomas, CEO of major commercial landlord Boston Properties, gave $1 million to the Urban Land Institute to launch ULI’s Net Zero Imperative, a new initiative that will sponsor advisory services to help local governments and private sector leaders reduce their carbon emissions to zero.

BankFive

Fall River-based BankFive has committed $300,000 to sponsor Entrepreneurship for all over three years. Entrepreneurship for All is a nonprofit that partners with communities nationwide to help under-represented individuals successfully start and grow a business through intensive business training, mentorship and an extended professional support network.

North Brookfield Savings Bank

North Brookfield Savings Bank donated $500 to match $500 donated by community members to buy school supplies for local children as part of an annual back-to-school fundraiser.

Northland Investment Corp.

Newton-based developer Northland Investment Corp. has donated $1 million to HomeStart, a a nonprofit dedicated to ending homelessness in Greater Boston and developing strategies to prevent homelessness before it starts.
