Fall River-based BankFive announced the first annual recipient of money from its President’s Scholarship Fund: a $40,000 scholarship for Fall River high school senior Malachia Nobre, who will be enrolling in Cornell University in the fall. The $1.2 million scholarship fund was established late last year to honor the memory of past presidents and CEOs of BankFive in partnership with the SouthCoast Community Foundation.
Bristol County Savings Bank
Taunton-based Bristol County Savings Bank announced two donations:
- A $2,500 grant to the Hockomock Area YMCA in North Attleboro to support its Fuel for the Weekend Program.
- A total of $1,500 in scholarships for two Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School seniors, based on merit and financial need.
City Realty Group
Boston-based developer City Realty Group donated $7,500 to the Italian Home for Children in Boston’s Jamaica Plain neighborhood to help obtain STEM equipment for its new neurodevelopment unit through the company’s City Kids nonprofit.
DCU
Digital Federal Credit Union, based in Marlborough, hosted a sock collection drive at its 23 branch locations and three back offices. In total, 1,600 pairs of socks were collected by community members and employees, with an additional 1,000 pairs matched by nonprofit partner, Operation Service. These 2,600 pairs of socks were distributed to 20 nonprofits throughout Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
DCU also announced it had awarded scholarships to 80 graduating high school seniors around the country within its member footprint. Twenty received $2,500 each, 20 were given $2,000 each and 40 more got $1,500 each.
Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union
Lowell-based Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union awarded $20,000 in college scholarships to 25 area students and $4,000 in scholarships to the children or grandchildren of its employees.
Monson Savings Bank
Monson Savings Bank made a $4,000 donation to the Monson Arts Council in support of council’s annual Spring Art Exhibition and Sale.
Pittsfield Cooperative Bank
Pittsfield Cooperative Bank awarded 22 local high school seniors scholarships as part of its Conrad Bernier Memorial Scholarship. The bank did not specify the award sizes, but said it has awarded over $350,000 to regional high school students since 1989.
