Berkshire Bank

Boston’s Berkshire Bank gave $75,000, to be metered out over three years, to the Dementia Care Collaborative at Massachusetts General Hospital to support patients and families living with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia.

Charles River Bank

Medway’s Charles River Bank  gave $1,000 to the Medway Christmas Parade Committee.

Citizens

Rhode Island-based Citizens donated $1 million to the Greater Boston YMCA to help fun an apprenticeship program for early childhood educators.

Core Investments

Boston developer Core Investments hosted a Veterans Day “giveback bash” on a South Boston property it hopes to redevelop into a mixture of offices, labs and housing in future years. An unspecified amount of donations for Cradles to Crayons, Pine Street Inn, and South Boston Neighborhood House were collected and attendees were encouraged to write letters to members of the military.

Massachusetts Building Trades Unions 

The Massachusetts Building Trades Unions and a group of union building contractors marked Veterans Day by donating over $40,000 to Helmets to Hardhats, a national nonprofit that connects National Guard, Reserve, and active-duty military members leaving the armed forces to careers in the union building trades.

Merrimack Valley Credit Union

Merrimack Valley Credit Union participated in the Kasasa Best Day Ever campaign, which encouraged financial institutions across the country to initiate acts of kindness with the goal of initiating 100,000 acts of kindness nationwide. The credit union’s contributions included:

  • In Plaistow, New Hampshire, MVCU team members delivered flowers to the Plaistow Emergency Room and pizza to the Plaistow firefighters on Elm Street.
  • MVCU’s Haverhill branch paid for a community member’s groceries at Market Basket.
  • The credit union’s Methuen branch team donated pet supplies to the MSPCA at Nevins Farm.
  • MVCU’s human resources department delivered winter accessories to the Lazarus House in Lawrence, and the credit union’s member support department delivered school supplies to Lawrence’s Parthum School.
  • MVCU’s Fairhaven branch delivered flowers to the Southcoast Health System in New Bedford.
  • MVCU’s Plymouth branch team made several stops, dropping off goods to the Salvation Army, delivering lunch to the Plymouth Police department, handing out gift cards at a local Panera Bread and bringing school supplies to the Magical Years Early Learning Center.

Newburyport Bank 

Newburyport Bankdonated $7,500 to Mass Audubon to help fund its Merrimack River Eagle Fest 2024.

Related Beal

Boston real estate firm Related Beal presented a $103,997 gift to the Center for Teen Empowerment, a nonprofit organization engaging youth to build stronger and more socially just communities. The funds were raised through the company’s first annual charitable golf tournament, held at Nashawtuc Country Club in Concord in August.

Rockland Trust Co.

Hanover bank Rockland Trust Co. donated $150,000 through its charitable foundation to Brockton Hospital. The money will help modernize its emergency room to include a behavioral health section.
