Employees at Commodore Builders participated in the Construction Leadership Council’s efforts to reinvigorate St. Mary’s Center in Dorchester.

Hanscom Federal Credit Union, Bridgewater Savings Bank, Santander Bank and more are among this week’s list of companies giving back to their communities.

 

BankGloucester

BankGloucester recently announced the winners of its ninth annual “Banking for the Community” program. The winners were chosen from over 6,000 votes cast by members of the community, and 19 organizations were awarded a total of $20,000. Cape Ann Animal Aid won the most votes, receiving a donation for $5,000.

 

Bridgewater Savings Bank

Bridgewater Savings Bank announced that its charitable foundation has donated $1,924 to the East Bridgewater Public Library’s Summer Reading Program. The program encourages children to continue to read and learn during the summer via games, music and shows.

The bank also announced the recipients of 16 academic scholarships, totaling $21,000. The scholarships, in amounts of $500 and $1,500, were awarded to local students.

 

Commodore Builders

Commodore Builders employees recently took part in the Construction Leadership Council’s one day service project at St. Mary’s Center in Dorchester. They joined approximately 200 volunteers in donating a total of $250,000 and giving the center a much needed facelift.

 

Country Bank

Country Bank recently hosted a Blanket Banquet to support Baystate Children’s Hospital in Springfield. During the event, staff members created “no-sew” fleece blankets for donation. To continue the event’s theme, volunteers were also served a variety of comfort foods.

 

Franklin First Federal Credit Union

Franklin First Federal Credit Union recently announced the 2016 winners of their academic scholarships. Six local students were awarded $5,000 in scholarship awards, named in honor of Franklin County native Specialist Ari Brown-Weeks, a paratrooper in the United States Army who died in Iraq in 2007.

 

Hanscom Federal Credit Union

Hanscom Federal Credit Union’s Burlington Relay for Life team recently raised $7,465 to fight cancer and give aid to those suffering from it. The credit union matched the team total and sponsored the event with a $1,000 donation.

 

IC Federal Credit Union

IC Federal Credit Union recently awarded five $1,000 scholarships to college-bound high school seniors from the surrounding community.

 

Needham Bank

Needham Bank announced that it has awarded West Roxbury student Olivia Hanna with a scholarship to be applied towards her Ursuline Academy tuition. Hanna, a high school junior, was chosen for the award due to her strong academic performance and commitment to community service.

 

Santander Bank

New England Revolution Forward Charlie Davies joined some of his teammates, Santander executives and more than 300 local children for Santander’s Soccer Scholars program, which was celebrated on June 15 at Teddy Ebersol Field. Soccer Scholars is a season-long sweepstakes that recognizes New England students for their academic achievements. The contest is open to students ages 6 to 17; the grand prize is a visit from Davies to the recipient’s school.
