
A group of 69 HarborOne Bank leaders recently contributed over 310 volunteer hours to help prepare Middleboro’s Camp Yomechas for the summer. As part of the project, HarborOne Caring Crew volunteers painted buildings and tidied the landscape to get the grounds ready for local children who will be attending the camp.
MutualOne Bank, RTN Federal Credit Union and Webster Five are among the organizations giving back to their communities this week.
Bristol County Savings Bank
Bristol County Savings Bank recently awarded a $50,000 grant to Bishop Connolly High School in Fall River in support of its advancement initiative, which provides funds for scholarships and campus improvements. The grant will be broken up into installments of $10,000 to be awarded each year over the next five years.
City of Boston Department of Neighborhood Development
The city of Boston Department of Neighborhood Development has awarded a grant to the Mattapan Family Service Center’s foreclosure prevention counseling program, which is operated through Action for Boston Community Development. The grant will help the center provide counseling to Boston homeowners facing foreclosure.
HarborOne Bank
HarborOne Bank employees recently turned out to prepare Middleboro’s Camp Yomechas for summer operation. In total, 69 employees contributed over 310 volunteer hours to paint, landscape and clean up the camp to get it ready for campers. HarborOne Bank has also donated $1,000 to Old Colony YMCA to support scholarships for young campers.
Additionally, HarborOne awarded 20 college scholarships totaling $100,000 to local high school seniors last month as part of the ONECommunity Scholarship Program. This round of scholarships is part of HarborOne’s pledge to award $1 million in scholarships over the next 10 years.
Institution for Savings
Michael J. Jones, president and CEO of Institution of Savings, recently signed a pledge to become a CEO Against Stigma, a workplace initiative created by the state chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness. The initiative partners with local organizations and business leaders to change misconceptions about mental illness and encourage individuals to open up and seek treatment for any conditions that might affect them.
MutualOne Bank
The MutualOne Charitable Foundation has donated $1,500 to the Mary E. Stapleton School in Framingham to fund the purchase of five cases of headphones for use by fifth grade students. The new headphones will help reduce noise distraction in classrooms when students are engaged in digital learning activities. The grant was among awards totaling $76,900 in the foundation’s most recent round of funding.
Northern Bank & Trust
The Northern Bank & Trust Charitable Foundation has selected Dayna Joelle Thibodeau as the 2016 recipient of the foundation’s $5,000 James E. McGarry Jr. Scholarship. The scholarship, founded in 2014 to honor the late Jim McGarry for his service to the bank, awards local high school seniors who have a parent or guardian actively serving as a firefighter or police officer.
Rollstone Bank & Trust
Rollstone Bank & Trust recently donated $10,000 to the Boys & Girls Club of Fitchburg and Leominster in support of its summer programs. The summer programs provide science, math and reading education to over 1,000 area children. The funds will be matched by an anonymous donor, who is matching up to $50,000 in donations.
RTN Federal Credit Union
The RTN Federal Credit Union Employees Community Outreach Committee recently sponsored and served dinner to almost 50 men and women at the Bristol Lodge Soup Kitchen in Waltham. The soup kitchen is one the local nonprofit organizations and charities that the committee supports annually via donations and contributions of volunteer hours.
SpencerBANK
SpencerBANK recently donated $5,000 as part of a three-year, $15,000 pledge to the Worcester State Foundation. The donation will help fund the foundation’s annual scholarship program and will help students overcome financial barriers that prevent them from seeking higher education.
The Stoddard Charitable Trust
The Stoddard Charitable Trust has awarded a $125,000 grant to Anna Maria College to support the school’s ongoing renovations of its Bishop Flanagan Campus Center. The grant will fund the replacement of the campus center’s roof.
Webster Five
The Webster Five Foundation recently announced that it will donate $2,500 to Youth Opportunities Upheld Inc. as part of its Web of Caring to Make a Difference program. The grant will support the organization’s Youth Academy program, which serves at-risk children, adolescents and families in Worcester County.
