Diversified Project Management Inc. (DPM), the Newton-based owner’s representative firm, has been selected by the University of Massachusetts Building Authority to oversee the renovation of Furcolo Hall at the UMass-Amherst.

DPM’s services will include the management of the planning, design, construction and commissioning process for the renovation of 64,000 square feet of Furcolo Hall and the former teaching wing of the building known as Mark’s Meadow Elementary School.

The $20 million project also includes accessibility and deferred maintenance improvements and will enable the four departments of the College of Education to be co-located.

The existing building was built in the early 1960’s and included a wing which operated as a public school for the town of Amherst.  Now that the town has decommissioned the school, the university will repurpose it to administration and offices, instructional, and community spaces.

DPM’s Frank Kennedy is the project executive. Timothy Singleton will assist him as senior project manager.  DPM has teamed with Rickes Associates for the study and development of the program.

The project is due for completion in spring 2015.
