East Boston Savings Bank has announced the upcoming retirement of Mark L. Abbate, executive vice president, treasurer and chief financial officer.

The bank announced in an SEC filing that Abbate, who also serves as the principal financial and accounting officer for EBSB’s holding company Meridian Bancorp, intends to retire on June 1.

Abbate has spent the past 10 years as CFO for East Boston Savings Banks, part of a 42-year financial career.

The bank expects Abbate to remain in his role until June 1 and assist in the transition of his responsibilities.
