An organization that sent a mobile eye clinic van to treat more than 2,000 low-income children and adults in underserved communities was among 69 local nonprofit recipients of more than $1 million in grants at Eastern Bank’s Ninth Annual Community Quarterback event.

The Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation donated $1,025,000 in grants and recognized each organization for its outstanding community leadership at the bank’s corporate headquarters in downtown Boston on April 10.

Eastern Bank chairman and CEO Richard E. Holbrook and Doug Flutie, the bank’s spokesman, honored the organizations before about 100 guests during a ceremony where a representative from each organization was presented with a Doug Flutie-autographed football – a token of appreciation of their leadership. All organizations received a grant of $10,000 or more from the Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation.
