Eastern Insurance Group LLC announced today that it had acquired the assets of a Westwood-based insurance agency.
Under the deal, Eastern Bank’s insurance subsidiary has absorbed all of the John E. Patterson Insurance Agency’s employees, including its president, John M. Patterson, who joined as a vice president in sales, and will rebrand Patterson’s Westwood office over the next three to four months. Eastern also plans to expand its staff as the office grows.
“We are excited to welcome the Patterson Insurance Agency employees and customers to the Eastern Insurance family,” Hope A. Aldrich, president and CEO of Eastern Insurance, said in a statement announcing the acquisition. “Similar to so many of our previous partnerships, the Patterson Insurance Agency is a perfect cultural fit for our organization.”
The Patterson acquisition is Eastern Insurance’s 25th acquisition since it became a subsidiary of Eastern Bank Corp. in 2002. Aldrich said the Patterson deal nicely complements the company’s current footprint as it fills in its customer base in Westwood and the Route 128 corridor.
“We are proud of what we have built in providing the best property and casualty insurance programs for the people and businesses of Westwood and Norfolk County,” Patterson said in the statement. “We believe that the choice of Eastern Insurance will serve our clients and employees extremely well with its ability to provide elevated resources and services.”
