Veteran real estate executive James Elcock has been named president of Colliers International, in a role where he will oversee brokerage operations in the downtown Boston and suburban markets.

Elcock previously led the suburban brokerage team. He replaces Ronald Perry, who has left the firm, according to a spokeswoman.

“Jim is a high quality professional who has a long record of success within Colliers, having co-led the suburban brokerage team for many years,” Tom Hynes, co-chairman and CEO of Colliers International | Boston, said in a statement.

Since 1984, Elcock has completed over 750 tenant representation transactions totaling more than eight million square feet. He is a recipient of the GBREB “Broker of the Year” award and a member of the Colliers Boston executive committee.
