A rendering of Elm Place in CambridgeEssex Builders Corp. has completed construction of Elm Place in Cambridge, a 25,000 square-foot, four-story building which includes 19 affordable apartments and retail space.

The design by VMY Vitols Architects includes a 24 kilowatt solar power plant, and is expected to be awarded a LEED Gold designation. Leases have already been signed for 15 apartments with the remaining four close to being finalized. A ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for tomorrow.

The Just-A-Start nonprofit program continues to flourish, providing affordable housing solutions to Cambridge residents and surrounding communities, according to a statement. Elm Place brings its completed project totals to: 561 rental apartments and 120 condominiums with financing specifically structured for first-time homebuyers.
