Cushman & Wakefield has named veteran real estate executive Joe Fallon, formerly with DTZ, to lead its New England operations following the departure of president Robert Griffin.
The announcement is the latest in a series of changes in the corner offices of area brokerages following Cushman & Wakefield’s $2 billion merger with DTZ in September.
Fallon said he’ll move quickly on integration of the two groups’ New England operations, which currently includes 175 employees across various service lines, including 50 brokers in Boston. The two groups also will be consolidating their office space: Cushman & Wakefield’s main office is at 225 Franklin St., while DTZ is based at 1 International Place.
“We’re going to be integrating both of those offices very, very quickly,” Fallon said today. “We’ll be looking for office space to accommodate over 100 people and hope to make a decision on that very soon.”
Robert Griffin, president of Cushman & Wakefield’s Boston office, resigned in late September to join Newmark Grubb Knight Frank in Boston and dozens of sales and brokerage colleagues have followed.
Luis Alvarado, who was named Boston market leader for Cushman & Wakefield in September, has left the company.
Fallon, a 35-year real estate executive, led Cassidy Turley’s Boston office prior to its merger with DTZ last January. His new title at Cushman & Wakefield is senior managing director and New England market leader.
He said his first priority is to integrate the two offices’ operations by year’s end and then to look at opportunities to grow the existing service lines or add new ones.
“As a result of the acquisition, there are a number of people who have called us looking to join what I call the `new’ Cushman & Wakefield in Boston,” he said.
He began his career in Boston at the former Spaulding & Slye brokerage and co-founded Fallon Hines O’Connor in 1988 , which was acquired by Trammell Crow in 1998. In 2007, he was a founding partner of FHO.
In addition to Boston, Cushman & Wakefield has offices in Hartford, Connecticut and Manchester, New Hampshire.
“From our perspective here in Boston, we’re super excited about where we’ve come in 10 months, from a great company at Cassidy Turley and a better company at DTZ to a really great company at Cushman & Wakefield,” Fallon said.
