Boston-based Finegold Alexander Architects will design a renovation of Beverly City Hall in the first major updates to the historic 18th-century mansion since the 1930s.
Project manager Colliers and Finegold Alexander are leading the estimated $25 million project, including reconfiguration of municipal government offices and neighboring former police station.
Originally constructed in 1785, the Andrew Cabot Mansion was converted into the City Hall in 1841. The project will analyze future uses of the two buildings, and add new energy-efficient building systems, Finegold Alexander announced this week.
The firm’s experience with historic building projects includes 40 properties that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
“Finegold Alexander looks forward to rejuvenating the historic Beverly City Hall into an innovative, accessible, sustainable, and efficient building for the city of Beverly and its community,” Finegold Alexander Principal Jeff Garriga said in a statement.
Colliers is managing the city hall renovation project, along with a $7 million renovation of the city’s McPherson Youth Center, according to a Salem News report.
