After four months of renovations, Forum, the Back Bay restaurant that suffered damage in the Boston Marathon bombings, has reopened its doors.
“It was never a question of if we reopen, but when we reopen,” said Erinn Fleming, director of events and marketing at Forum.
The first floor of the restaurant was affected by the attack while the second floor was hit on a lesser scale. The design of the restaurant has been changed to a lighter and brighter atmosphere in order to present a welcoming experience for Forum guests, according to Fleming.
“Guests can feel good about being in Forum and feel comfortable about coming back,” said Fleming.
The past four months at Forum at 755 Boylston St. were difficult because the restaurant wasn’t able to do any business during the renovation period.
“The past four months were haRd. but we were confident that the supportive city of Boston would help make up for the loss in revenue,” said Jamis Medeiros, assistant general manager of Forum. “People really reached out for support.”
Now, Forum is open for business with “a great new environment,” according to Fleming.
“We knew what was logistically wrong with the restaurant, so we were able to resolve those problems during our renovation period,” said Medeiros.
The restaurant was able to take reservations from patrons leading up to the official reopening.
“What happened in April only made us that much closer,” said Fleming. “There was a lot going on to plan for the opening.”
Forum hosted an invite-only party, which featured Boston Mayor Thomas Menino and marathon victims. The restaurant also introduced a new partnership with the Joe Andruzzi Foundation, made possible by former Patriots player Joe Andruzzi. When the bomb exploded outside of the restaurant, Forum was in the middle of a fundraiser for the Andruzzi Foundation when the bomb went off.
