As it moves its largest office from downtown Boston to the Seaport, law firm Goodwin Procter LLP said it’s shortened its name and adopted a new logo.

Some 400 of the firm’s 900 attorneys worldwide are based in Boston, and are making the switch from Goodwin’s former home at 53 State St. in the Financial District to the new 17-story tower at 100 Northern Ave. Goodwin occupies the seventh through 17th floors, totaling 375,000 square feet.

The build-to-suit tower developed by Boston-based Fallon Co. is the fifth Boston address for Goodwin in the past century, with all of the previous locations on State Street.

At a ceremony Monday, the firm used the occasion to announce it’s shortening its brand name to Goodwin while adding a new logo and website, goodwinlaw.com.

“Calling 100 Northern Avenue our new home gives us the exciting opportunity to be a part of a thriving, revitalized community, alongside high-tech, biotech and other innovative companies, many of whom are also our clients,” Boston office Chair Andrew Sucoff said in a statement.
