Citizens Bank recently recruited a veteran of Santander, JPMorgan Chase and Washington Mutual, to head up its retail distribution.

Simon Griffiths was named executive vice president and head of distribution for consumer banking, Citizens said this week. In this role, he will manage the bank’s branch and ATM network, its online and mobile banking, digital sales and marketing, and other consumer banking operations.

“As we pursue our strategy of becoming a top-performing regional bank, we are very pleased to have a seasoned retail banking executive like Simon join our executive leadership team,” Conner said in a statement. “Simon’s extensive and successful track record in the industry makes him a great fit for Citizens as we leverage the convenience of our retail network to help Citizens Bank customers access the products, services and expertise they need to meet their financial goals.”

Griffiths previously managed Santander’s retail branch network and before that, he held a variety of senior leadership roles at JPMorgan Chase, including national head of branch administration and market manager for all retail branches in its Silicon Valley and Seattle markets. At Washington Mutual, he led pricing and product strategy for home equity and also led process improvement for the banking products and operations group. He also previously worked as a group manager and senior consultant for Accenture, where he advised companies in financial services and other industries.

His job at Citizens begins Oct. 13.
