An 18,700-square-foot addition to Serenity at Summit New England in Haverhill will make room for 20 additional beds and allow the substance abuse treatment center to expand its inpatient and outpatient programs.

The Sanders Trust recently broke ground on the renovation and expansion project designed by BKA Architects and performed by Pimental Construction of Wilmington and scheduled for completion in October.

Birmingham, Alabama-based Sanders Trust acquired the 41-bed treatment center at 61 Brown St. in 2019. The property is operated by Summit Behavioral Health, a subsidiary of Delphi Behavioral Health Group.
