The town of Hopkinton will more than triple the size of its public library with an expansion scheduled for completion next year.

The project will total $8 million and increase the library from 5,783 square feet to 22,000 square feet, adding new meeting spaces, full accessibility, computer terminals, a children’s room, a technology classroom and a young adults section.

CTA Construction Co. Inc. will undertake the expansion and renovation of the historic building.

The Hopkinton Public Library consists of the original 1895 library and the adjacent 1898 church joined by a 1967 addition.

CTA Construction has been selected to undertake the project. The architect is Johnson-Roberts Assoc. and the owner’s project manager is Construction Monitoring Services Inc.
