Built: 2021-2023

Nauset Construction has begun foundation work following demolition work at a former gas station property for redevelopment into 50 age-restricted apartments and 6,500 square feet of retail space.

Designed by CBT Architects, the 6-story, wood-frame structure with a metallic panel exterior will be constructed over a steel podium concrete slab and two levels of below-grade parking for 70 vehicles. The development contains 50 apartments, including 10 reserved for households earning a maximum 50 percent of the area median income. Over 2,000 square feet of ground-floor amenity space will include a lounge, fitness room, clubhouse with fireplace and wet bar.

The property’s high water table required removal of ledge to install a complex foundation system including mini-piles and pipe piles.

They Said It:

“Removing this long-shuttered service station and constructing this mixed-use development will be a boon to the entire neighborhood, aesthetically and environmentally. 1180 Boylston will provide an ideal rental housing alternative for area residents seeking to downsize from their single-family homes while remaining connected to their lifelong community.”
