What: 150 State St.
Where: Boston
Owner: LDJ Development
Built: 1899

A renovation and addition project by Nauset Construction has created four floors of office space and a three-story Japanese restaurant at 150 State St. in downtown Boston.

The historic English Tudor-style building was originally constructed in 1899 and is a former home to the British Consulate.

Designed by Quincy-based architects Choo & Co. Inc., the project added one floor and an enclosed roof deck with 400-square-foot aluminum and glass retractable skylight. The Elizabethan façade was replaced with copper panels, and folding glass partitions which open to the sidewalk line the ground floor.

Japanese restaurant Kamakura features seasonal tasting courses, sushi omakase and bento boxes.

They Said It:

“With office space at a premium in the Financial District and an increased focus on unique dining options in the city of Boston, we were confident about the building’s prospects. The office space has been fully leased and the restaurant has received outstanding reviews.”
