- A new riverfront mixed-use complex called Harbor Place is helping to transform downtown Haverhill into a more walkable and livable destination.
- Designed by The Architectural Team Inc. of Chelsea, Harbor Place creates a cornerstone, 176,000-square-foot development on a 1.5-acre downtown site. The site features two new midrise buildings.
- The first is a 5-story, 58,000-square-foot commercial building with first-floor tenants Haverhill Community TV studios, a University of Massachusetts-Lowell satellite campus space on the second and third floors, and headquarters for Pentucket Bank and additional office space on the upper floors
- The other is a 6-story, 118,000-square-foot, mixed use building with ground-floor riverfront restaurant space, commercial uses and 80 residential units above.
- Boston-based Copley Wolff Design Group led the landscape design, including streetscape improvements along Merrimack Street, a waterfront boardwalk and a public/private courtyard plaza.
- The courtyard design consists of a large open lawn bordered by extra wide terraced concrete seat walls. In addition, the courtyard provides three semi-private alcoves for restaurant spill out space.
