Cambridge-based Ironwood Pharmaceuticals has selected Boston-based architects TRIA to design its new 39,000-square-foot headquarters at 100 Summer St. in Boston. 

TRIA will provide space planning and corporate interior design for the 21-year-old company, which specializes in treatments of gastrointestinal disorders.  

Plans call for soft seating interpersed throughout the open-office format space, along with bench seating and personal lockers. Wooden millwork elements will break up the space and serve as room dividers including storage space. Industrial architectural elements will include exposed ceilings, columns and concrete floors, softened by wood finishes and earth-tone color schemes. 

Other members of the project team include Lee Kennedy Co., WB Engineers, project manager and leasing broker Cushman & Wakefield and office furniture vendor Red Thread.
