The Joyce Cummings Center at Tufts University received national recognition by a building trades group for efficiency in a design-build project.

PROCON received the Excellence in Construction Eagle award and National Design-Build Award at Associated Builders and Contractors’ Convention held last month in Orlando, Florida.

The New Hampshire construction firm designed and built the 7-story, 150,000-square-foot academic building, which includes classrooms, seminar rooms, meeting space, research labs, offices and a 160-seat auditorium.

The project included weekly meetings to plan sequencing and overcome challenges including identifying a materials laydown area and erosion control plan.

They Said It:

“PROCON delivered a seven-story academic building 25 feet from an active MBTA railroad while a new train station was simultaneously under construction on an extremely tight urban site despite numerous challenges including the pandemic.”
