Leila Kamal, vice president of design and expertise at EYP Architecture & Engineering in Boston, has been elected to the company’s board of directors.

"Leila’s experience and ability with all aspects of our organization will make her a successful contributor to EYP’s board of directors," said Tom Birdsey, CEO and president of EYP. "She has experience in operations, business development, project management, and in design and expertise. And, as part of the senior leadership team for nearly two years, she has contributed to the day-to-day operations of the firm, always with careful consideration for long term strategies. We’re thrilled to have her join the board."

"I’m excited about the possibilities, and my hope is to bring fresh perspective to the board relative to design and expertise, that will ultimately help move EYP into the future," Kamal said.

Kamal began her career with EYP in 1997, and has since been involved in the planning, programming, and design of academic buildings, undergraduate science buildings, and student housing projects at more than 19 colleges and universities, including Harvard University, University of Michigan, Wheaton College, Ohio State University, Hamilton College and Worcester Polytechnic Institute, according to a statement.

With more than 19 years of experience in architectural design, programming, and project management, Kamal participates in and speaks at Tradeline and SCUP conferences, and at last year’s National AIA Women’s Leadership Summit in Chicago, according to a statement.
