Brookline-based Kaplan Construction has completed its largest project in western Massachusetts to date with the completion of a 229-unit mixed-income community in Holyoke.
The project included construction of a new 17,000-square-foot apartment building and renovations to 217 apartments at Holyoke Farms, which is owned by partnership of Maloney Properties and the Whiting Farms Tenant Association.
The project which began in June 2019 included demolition of an eight-unit townhouse building to make way for the new 3-story building with 12 accessible housing units and a management office. Renovations to the existing 217 apartments included bathroom updates, and replacement of boilers with energy-efficient equipment. Exterior work included creation of three pocket parks and a play space.
Members of the project team included developer Maloney Development LLC, architect Guzman Prufer Inc., Summit Engineers, MEP/FP Engineer Wozny/Barbar & Associates, Inc., civil engineer White Engineering Inc. and Plant It Green Landscape Architecture.
