IMG_1245Needham-based Kriss Law/Atlantic Closing & Escrow hosted its spring real estate agent education event this week, one of the state’s largest professional education programs, with more than 800 local agents attending the program Monday at the Newton Marriott.

The program consisted of two sessions broken by a luncheon. The morning panel, led by Kriss Law’s chief operating officer Mike Krone, reviewed the ins and out of residential purchase and sale agreements. David Cuttler, a senior attorney with Kriss Law, Shant Banosian, senior vice president of Boston-based Guaranteed Rate Mortgage, and Andrew Monticone, senior loan officer at Arlington-based Leader Bank, rounded out the panel. Despite some minor technical snafus – at one point the hotel’s sound system began emitting classical music, prompting Krone to briefly break out into a spontaneous accompanying aria – the lively session covered the basics of contract law and gave agents numerous tips on how best to protect themselves and their clients.

A second, afternoon session, co-led by Massachusetts Association of Realtors’ (MAR) Associate Counsel Ashley Stolba and Krone, covered common rental issues and conflicts between landlords and tenants.

The Newton event was the first in a series of three such education events hosted by Kriss Law this week, with other sessions held in Wakefield and Burlington. In lieu of an entrance fee, $10 donations were collected from attendees in support of Alzheimer’s Foundation of America. The charity will receive a donation of about $6,500 in total from Monday’s event, according to Scott Kriss, president of Kriss Law.

In addition to Kriss Law, event co-sponsors included CATIC, MAR, PMAC Lending – Jeff Palermo Team, Mortgage Equity Partners, Leader Bank, Guaranteed Rate Mortgage and Berkshire Bank.
