Kronos CEO Aron Ain watches a video congratulations from his brother and founder of Kronos, Mark Ain, at the grand opening of the company’s new global headquarters in Lowell.
One of the largest suburban office repositioning projects in recent years culminated this week as billion-dollar software firm Kronos completed its headquarters consolidation at Cross Point Towers in Lowell.
Nearly 1,500 employees have occupied more than 500,000 square feet on 16 floors within the Kronos Tower, one of two buildings within the 1.2-million-square-foot property acquired by Boston-based Anchor Line Partners and Farallon Capital Management in 2014 for $100 million.
The provider of cloud-based management tools scouted locations from Waltham to Westford as well as expansion near its Route 129 campus in Chelmsford before leasing the Cross Point space in 2016.
Boston-based architects Packard Design worked with Kronos on the workplace buildout including meeting rooms, open offices, labs and a customer center. A 30,000-square-foot amenities floor called The Hub contains a coffeehouse, library and game room overlooking an athletic court.
State and local officials joined Kronos executives at a ceremony Tuesday to mark the company’s move and its 40th anniversary. The privately-held company has $1 billion in annual revenues and 5,300 employees globally, with plans to hire an additional 400 Massachusetts employees – known internally as “Kronites” – over the next five years.
Audio accessories manufacturer Jabra and video display operator Captivate also have leased office space at Cross Point under Anchor Line’s ownership.
