Gate Residential has signed a lease with Boston-area restaurateur Jimmy Liang to add a Japanese fusion restaurant to its West of Chestnut residential development underway in Quincy.

The 5,000-square-foot restaurant will be the 10th location for Liang’s Fuji Group brand. Liang founded Fuji Restaurant in Wollaston with his business partner Peter Tse in 1998.

West of Chestnut is a 169-unit luxury apartment community with 12,400 square feet of commercial and retail space on the street level, located in downtown Quincy. Gate Residential began construction on the complex last year following the 2014 announcement of a new joint venture with landowner Quincy Mutual Fire Insurance Co. Quincy Mutual, which has been in continuous operation in Quincy since it was founded in 1851, is a major investor in the downtown redevelopment.

The cost of adding the restaurant to the development is estimated at $1 million.
