The longtime leader of Middletown, Rhode Island-based People’s Credit Union is retiring.
The credit union said earlier this week that Ellen Ford will leave her role in November of this year, and that she will be succeeded by Sean Daly, the current executive vice president and CFO at People’s.
Ford has worked at People’s for 37 years including 17 years as its president and CEO. She was also a member of the board of directors of the Credit Union Association of Rhode Island from 2004 to 2014.
She was elected to the Cooperative Credit Union Association board of directors and is currently board chairwoman. Ford was the recipient of the 2013 PBN Women in Business Achievement Award and the Sandra J. Pattie Distinguished Leadership Award at the 2018 New England Women in Banking Conference.
“On behalf of the board, I want to thank Ellen for her dedication to the People’s Credit Union, its members, employees, her colleagues, the community and the credit union industry which has been unrivaled,” Edward T. Lopes, chairman of the board of directors of People’s Credit Union, said in a statement. “Her passion to help others has been the source of inspiration to many and her legacy, for both People’s Credit Union and the entire credit union movement, will live far into the future.”
Daly has executive vice president and CFO since May 2017. Before that, according to his LinkedIn profile, he was briefly CEO of A. Anthony Corp., a commercial real estate company in North Carolina. Before that, he was the CFO of Provant, a health and fitness company in Kansas, and prior to that president and COO of IDT911, a management consulting firm in Arizona.
Earlier in his career, he worked in several more traditional banking roles for Fleet Bank and Citizens Bank.
“Sean is a proven, experienced leader and in the past two and a half years, as our chief financial officer, has been committed to our mission and has worked to build a foundation for future growth and success for our organization,” Lopes said. “Sean grew up in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, is a graduate of Bryant University and has demonstrated a strong commitment to each of the communities in which he has worked. I am confident that his visionary leadership will take People’s Credit Union on to even greater accomplishments and the next level of success.”
